Guidelines

The journal publishes writings in the field of HR and labor studies written in Japanese or English, including academic articles, book reviews and reports and information regarding the society. In addition, the Journal Editorial Committee may publish any feature articles that they deem appropriate.

1. Members of the Japan Society of Human Resource Management may contribute academic articles, book reviews, research notes, special reviews and information regarding the society in the journal. In the case of multiple authors, at least one author should be a member.
2. Please specify the type of submission when submitting.
3. Submissions will be treated according to the contributor’s specified type. However, the Editorial Committee may change the submission type with consent of the contributor.
4. Academic articles must be unpublished work, and created in Word or Ichitaro file format. Articles previously published only in the collection of convention presentations, and discussion papers with revisions/additions are also accepted. Do not submit articles to other publications or post on the web during the review process. Violation of this rule will result in a temporary ban on contributions.
5. All articles need to be submitted with an abstract written in Japanese or English (an English abstract for English articles). Drafts and abstracts can be sent to the chair of the Editorial Committee as attached documents (Word, Ichitaro, or PDF format) by Email. They can also be sent by mail as files burned on to a CD or DVD.
6. Articles should include up to 5 keywords.
7. The maximum length is 20,000 Japanese characters or 6,000 English words, including any data charts and works cited list. Page format should be A4 size with 40 lines, 40 characters each. The limit for abstracts is 1,600 Japanese characters or 600 English words.
8. In-text citation should be written as (author, date of publication, page number), and a works cited list should be included at the end of the article. Format for works cited is as follows:

Book in English Author, Book Title, Publisher, year of publication.
in Japanese Author, 『Book Title』, Publisher, year of publication.
Article English magazine Author, “Title of Article”, Title of Periodical, Volume (year, month), page number.
Japanese magazine Author, 「Title of Article」, Title of Periodical, Volume (year, month), page number.

9. Make sure to write your name, address, affiliated institution, job title, phone number/fax/Email, and other contact information on the cover, not on the article itself.
10. There is no specific deadline; submissions can be made at any time.
11. The academic articles will be read, reviewed, and chosen by three members of the Editorial Committee. Research notes/documents, special reviews and book reviews are reviewed by the Committee as a whole.
12. The author will do the first proofreading of their accepted article.
13. Submissions will not be returned.
14. Published articles become the property of the Japan Society of Human Resource Management.
15. Authors must obtain prior approval of the Japan Society of Human Resource Management before using articles published in the magazine in other publications.
16. These guidelines are set by the Board of Trustees.
